O2 Ireland launches business blog offering specialist expert advice for the SME market

Telefónica O2 Ireland has launched a new business blog offering specialist expert advice for the SME market.

The ‘O2 Ideas Room’ will allow both large and small businesses to access free expert information as well as providing an online community platform to engage with other companies. They can also build an online profile without blogging by contributing to discussions.

A 2008 study by Deloitte revealed that just six per cent of Irish SMEs had a business blog but a 2009 report suggested that 94 per cent plan to increase investment in social media tools and online communities.

The main business objectives of SMEs for online communities and social networking are to increase word-of mouth, customer loyalty, brand awareness and idea generation.

O2 Ireland head of communications and sponsorship Jonnie Cahill said: “With the O2 blog we want to provide more than just telecommunications advice. We are going one step further to enable businesses to connect with each other and to share comments and ideas on how to be successful.

“It is also an easy way for SMEs to start to try out social media marketing tools. We are looking for business blog contributions and many of our contributors are first time bloggers.”
