IVR (Interactive voice response)

IVR is short for Interactive Voice Response and is a telephony technology in which someone (you or a client) uses a touch-tone telephone to interact with a database in order to acquire information from or enter data into the database.  

IVR technology does not require human interaction, as the user's interaction with the database is predetermined by what the IVR system will allow the user access to. For example, IVR will allow your customers to access your company’s database via a telephone touchtone keypad or by speech recognition, after which they can service their own enquiries by following the instructions. IVR systems can respond with pre-recorded or dynamically generated audio to further direct users on how to proceed. IVR technology is also used to gather information, which saves your company time and narrows down the need for finance expenditures.
