IVR - Credit Card Billing Over Telephone
For this project we were using Intel Dialogic hardware
and the software platform, CT ADE. The IVR system was created for
a divertissement company selling tickets for different events. The caller can
select from a menu the type of event of interest and then, after selecting other
details using DTMF tones, he is asked to input his credit card
number and it's expiry date. The IVR produces a connection through the
Internet with a credit card processing company and sends the details and waits
for the response. Once the IVR receive positive response from the credit
card company it generates a purchase number. If the caller chooses to do so, he
can input his mobile phone number and receive this purchase number on his mobile
phone as an SMS message.
The important point here is that the IVR makes its
connection over an Internet TCP/IP protocol to the credit
card processing company and then waits for an answer. All the information during
the call is logged in a local database. We then have a secondary connection with
the SMS gateway in case the caller wants to receive the ticket
purchase number as SMS on his mobile phone.
Charging credit cards over the telephone line can be used for
many other projects, it is easy and quite secure way for completing business
transactions.
